just a rough drawing of the decorative piece that would adorn the headstone.

cemetery_vasesketch2.jpg (45715 bytes) Then he built a frame out of metal lath or chicken wire and covered it with cement, you know, a scratch coat. Then he applied a second coat and with the cement still wet, he started applying his pieces.
cemetery_vasesketch3.jpg (43555 bytes) And he kept applying his brightly colored pieces until the entire structure was covered.  Over the years, a couple pieces have fallen off, but most have remained.
