a rough drawing of the decorative piece that would adorn the headstone.
Then he built a frame out of metal lath or
chicken wire and covered it with cement, you know, a scratch coat. Then he applied a
second coat and with the cement still wet, he started applying his pieces.
And he kept applying his brightly colored pieces
until the entire structure was covered. Over the years, a couple pieces have fallen
off, but most have remained.
